Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS)

Hello,

I am wondering if there has been any research done, or if there has any been success/failure stories of patients who have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and have had any form of Corrective Laser Eye Surgery (Lasik or PRK).

Would a patient with EDS even be a candidate for these surgeries?

If you are an individual with EDS and have had Laser Eye surgery please describe your experiences.

Thank you

Hi,

You will not likely find any research on LASIK and Ehlers Danlos syndrome, because the potential patient population is so small that there is no real incentive to study it.

However, one possible way by which you might obtain some limited information is to ask your surgeon to contact the medical director of his or her laser company. Often, surgeons seek the opinion of the laser company medical director for extremely unusual cases such as yours, so the medical director may be able to provide your surgeon with some limited information.
